On this page you’ll find the design principles that guide us as we shape the story of Sins of our Creators.
We tell our story together
Sins of our creators is a larp where collaborative storytelling is the number one goal. We encourage and facilitate calibration of play between participants through several tools which can be found on our website and will be practised during workshops. This is not a larp you can win, the best outcome is that of the most interesting story.
Sins of our creators is larp
Sins of our Creators (SooC) is a larp which isn’t deeply rooted in one single design tradition. We have taken design elements which we deemed most fitting for the story we wanted to tell and put them together in one game. You might recognize elements from different styles but we prefer to just call our event “larp”.
This is a vampire story where the personal comes first.
Through SooC we seek to explore themes of community, what it means to be human, and complicated power dynamics. It is primarily a story about people who choose or are forced to leave ‘’regular’’ society having to adapt to a new social structure calling it their new home. It is about their personal struggles (of being accepted into the cult, making sacrifices and/or gaining power and influence) as well as the struggle and eventual demise of the cult as a whole.
Everything in this story is made more complicated by the fact that this is a cult WITH vampires.
We have very consciously designed a larp that combines the concept of cults with the concept of vampires. We believe these two elements create interesting complications for the characters and add an additional layer to the experience we are trying to create.
This is not a larp about escape
This is not a larp about escape. We are telling a story about a vampiric cult and its participants. Your character can and should not leave and we ask to suspend your disbelief to make sure you don’t. We do not facilitate any storytelling beyond what happens in the house.
We try to balance budget and comfort
We try to keep our events affordable while at the same time providing a certain level of comfort. You’ll be sharing 2 to 4 person rooms with ensuite bathrooms, buffet style catered meals and several play spaces.
Do not expect excessive luxury bathrooms, four course sit down meals or name brand cola.
Based on WoD Lore and “Mechanics”
The setting of SooC could be set in a World of Darkness setting and we will borrow some story and rule elements. It’s a Dark Pack game but will not be a traditional WoD vampire setting where you play Camarilla, Anarchs or Sabbat. You play a cult based in a WoD setting. So some things can feel familiar but don’t draw conclusions based on your out game knowledge of WoD. Therefore things like what version of the game system or what time, location or time period this story takes place are not important.
