Cults generally use specified language to help create their specific identity. For Sins of our Creators we’ve chose to create some specific language as well. Words with an * are the equivalent World of Darkness term. Not necessary to know but handy for those familiar with WoD.
Ascension – The highest goal obtainable for someone on The Path. Only the Elder of the path has ever Ascended.
Blood of the Transcended – Vampire blood (Vitae*)
Bound – A mortal who is connected to a Patron (Ghoul*)
Child of the Path – Someone who has transcended and follows the path (all vampires in The Community are Children of the Path.)
Fed from the Cup – Someone who receives the blood of multiple Transcended (usually The Founders) at the same time (Vaulderie*).
Gift of Transformation – The transformation from Bound to Embraced, which means someone becomes a vampire (also known as transcended) (Embrace*)
Inner Circle – The Founders and Chosen together form the Inner Circle. They are the ones who ”rule” The Community.
Mortal – A human
The Community – The entity of the Cult, used as a ”sweet sounding” term to draw people in.
The Crucible – The first 24 hours a Tarnished spends in The Community. A time of temptation and contemplation.
The Path (of Perfection) – The name of the cult as well as the doctrine that is being followed
Transcended – Someone who has gone through the Gift of Transformation and has become a vampire (kindred*).
Patron – The one who has responsibility for a specific/ownership over a Bound (Domitor*)
Rite of Binding – The rite through which a Tarnished becomes a Bound and becomes attached to a Patron. If a Bound changes Patron a new rite is often performed.
Sire – Someone who has performed the Rite of Transformation and therefore created a Child of the Path. Sire is the term they use to indicated someones direct lineage.
Tarnished – Someone new to The Community who has not gone through a Rite of Binding yet and therefore does not have a Patron.
