The story in broad strokes
The Larp will consist of three consecutive nights of play.
On night one new recruits will be introduced to the existing status quo. It will be a ‘normal’ cult day in the sense that you will get the chance to establish connections and find how to behave inside of the cult. It is an evening to set goals, build friendships, find your enemies, establish power or work towards the next step. It will also give you a chance to learn about and perform important rituals within the cult. This evening will set a foundation for the cult and is a stepping stone to the second night.
Night two is a special day within cult parameters. There are a couple of set scenes and rituals that everyone knows happen every now and again, but they are not common. There will be some characters taking a next step (like completing, or failing, a test towards their loyalty and the next step, embracing or being embraced, being the victim of a punishment or the subject of a reward.) During this night you explore the sharp edges of the cult. Reasons why it is dangerous to be here, but also reasons why you really want to live up to the expectations of the Founders. For those that have already established themselves (founders and inner circle) it is a night where you will test the (new) recruits and neonates and see who has the most potential.
Night three is the night where all but the cult members will find out they were lied to, because an external party comes to end the cult. This will be a night full of mindgames, revenge, fear and torture. A very important element is that running away is not going to be an option for anyone. Characters will be confronted with the fallout and will be forced to make difficult choices. Your belief system will be overthrown and most of the characters will die at the end, and even for those who manage to find a way to live, there will be no happy endings.
Workshops
In addition to some overall safety and mechanic workshops before the larp starts, there will be workshops before every play night to help you play on subjects, themes and (possibly) scripted scenes that will be most important that night. You will get a chance to calibrate with co-players beforehand on more intense or emotional scenes, re-establish boundaries and/or wishes and make sure everyone will get the most out of their game.
