Themes

“In their light, we are chosen. In their shadow, we are lost.”

Please note that not all themes may apply to the character you receive. We will include the relevant themes per character. Please also be aware that even if you do not have a specific theme written in your character, you might still encounter it during the LARP as a bystander and/or spectator.

There will be Embraces, but not every human might get that opportunity. So please be aware that if you sign up for a human you will not necessarily be Embraced.

Themes present in the game:

Predator and Prey
Being the monster and being monstered
Verbal, physical and mental abuse
Hierarchy and servitude
(Loss of) humanity
Rituals
Personal drama
Community
Family drama
Death/murder of a loved one
Betrayal
Gaslighting
Murder
Feeding, Embrace, Sacrifice
Toxic and abusive relationships
Drugs/substance abuse including vampiric blood
Mental and physical torture

Only on the third night is there a possibility for suicide as a means of self sacrifice (to try and save another character). This must always be discussed prior with everyone in the scene.

These themes will not be played out whatsoever, but might be present in some character’s backgrounds:

Sexual acts (and therefore also sexual abuse)
Pedophilia
Pregnancy
Child abuse, child death, abortion
(Attempted) suicide for any other reason than sacrificing your own character on the third night trying to save another character.

Off game discrimination/bigotry— including but not limited to racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, anti-Semitism, ableism, and ageism* is explicity not allowed.

*Because we will be playing a cult, some in game racism and bigotry will be present, but never on out-game characteristics of players.
