Sins is a transparent larp. This means that in broad lines, the story is already set, with key scenes throughout the three game nights and an ending to the main story that cannot be changed.
Transparency in characters
Characters will be fully transparent with an opt-in mechanic. This means that you do not have to read other people’s characters if you don’t want to or like to be surprised, but you will have the option to. We will make sure that certain key secrets within the characters will get an extra check to see if you want to know those as well. In all cases, the secret of a character can only come out when the player whose secret it is initiates. This of course can be done by a calibration, so that another player can find out in game, but the main point is that the player who portrays the character with the secret decides how, when and to what scale the secret is revealed.
All characters will also have pre-written relationships, but how to further develop them in game is up to the player. How your character will develop themselves during the three play nights and how exactly they will come to an end at the end of the third night is up to you as a player. You, in other words, are the one bringing the character to life.
Some characters will also have pre-written scenes that will happen during a certain point in the game, such as being introduced to the cult (for the new recruits), or deciding who will be embraced (for the founders). Those types of scenes will be described in the character backgrounds if that is the case. There will be an option in the sign-up form to state if you would like a prewritten scene or not. We will of course also take into account other preferences, which again will be available in the sign-up form (see also: characters).
